One Ear Brand Bandanas<LOL Bean Mingei Bandana

Started by Osaka based Bandana connoisseur, Jonathan Lukacek, the One Ear Brand aims to be much more than just a bandana brand. Using custom made fabrics, One Ear Bandanas are made entirely in Japan, printed one at a time meaning that each is slightly different from the last. Inspired by the big “Turkey Red” bandanas of the 1800’s, these bandanas are designed for more than just accenting an outfit; they make great Eco-Bags, Face Masks, Scarves, Furoshiki (Traditional Japanese Wrapping Cloths), Head Wraps and much more. With the Bandana as her canvas each piece is drawn by one artist, Japanese- American- Yurika Cherise Shikai.

Made in homage to vintage LL Bean Duck Blankets, first produced by the brand in the 30’s. This design includes ducks encircling Irish Setter dogs on a background of their dropped feathers. The colour scheme is inspired by the original blanket along with colours often used in craft and clay pottery works from the “Mingei” movement in Japan. Started by Yanagi Soetsu in the 1920’s, he encouraged many small towns that were craft producers to create museums dedicated to preserving local traditional crafts.
