Challenging the existing notion on vintage clothing, KUON revitalizes traditional Japanese boro and re-purposes these rich materials and fabrics for the modern day.

Here we have the Regular Collar Cross Sashiko Shirt, forming a key piece from Kuon’s SS22 collection. Cross Sashiko is a high-density double-woven Sashiko-ori fabric with 2-ply 40 count yarn in the warp and 20 count single yarn in the weft. Although difficult to machine weave, Kuon have made this possible by altering the speed and slowing the machinery down to almost hand sewing pace, resulting in a fabric that is light in weight. The use of thicker Sashiko threads makes the fabric taut and provides the shirt with a three-dimensional surface.

Cut from 100% cotton in Japan, the Regular Collar Cross Sashiko shirt has a regular fit that works perfectly for a modern, casual look. The shirt also features a button front and a large single chest pocket while the unique darting through the back adds a refined touch.
